The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers. M. Scott Peck
Lifespotting! was born out of a need to find reasons to smile and to keep moving forward. When life seemed all downhill, grey clouds everywhere and nary a sight or sound of beauty anywhere, I felt like I had stepped into a bog and was sinking faster than I could yell for help.
At that time my days consisted of getting my business going, money worries, relationship worries and where the hell was my life headed at 40 worries. While I’ve done a lot of personal development, read tons, and know a lot, I wasn’t practicing what I knew (this, after all, is the crucial step) – instead I was so mired down that I couldn’t see the door that was always there.
I had dreams of an ideal life, that life couldn’t get going until I got my shit together, started getting regular income coming in and got some stability instead of the roller-coaster I had been on. Then one day I had one of those moments of inspiration, of courage really.
I decided one day to make it a daily habit to find and notice beauty – those things that would make me smile, inspire my creativity and light a fire under my ass to get moving on my goals. I started a vision board and the pictures were to be my screen saver – to inspire and motivate me every time I was at my desk.
Once I started, I found the most amazing images. Images that made me hungry for travel, art, music, food, fashion all of it and sometimes the most beautiful videos. Nine months later, I’m going full speed ahead with this website.
With the pace of our world set at high-speed and so many places to get ‘social’ online, I want to provide you with short bites of wisdom and reflections – a resource where you know you’ll see something to brighten your day or inspire. I already know this site will evolve beyond what it is now but I encourage you to get involved, comment and/or ask questions and share your own stories, I’d like this to be a thriving community. Lifespotting! is about all of you.
It’s about reminding you, of the moments that make life more beautiful. If I can bring a smile to your face, a sparkle in your eye or the beginnings of bold dreams, I will have done what I set out to do.
